The short version

PageForth runs locally on your Mac. We don't collect your reading list, we don't see the articles you save, and we don't run servers between you and the websites you read. Everything happens on your device.

What PageForth does with your data

Source URLs. The list of pages you've added as sources is stored in your Mac's app sandbox. It never leaves your device.

Article content. When PageForth refreshes a source, it makes a normal web request from your Mac directly to the source website - the same kind your browser makes. The HTML it gets back is parsed locally. We don't operate a proxy or fetch articles on your behalf.

Summaries. Article summaries are generated by Apple's on-device Foundation Models. The article text is passed to the on-device model on your Mac. Nothing about the summarization step is sent to us or to Apple's servers.

For You ranking. The For You feed is ranked by an on-device sentence embedding model. Your hearts, dismissals, and the embeddings of every article you've seen are stored locally in your app sandbox.

Sponsor slots. When PageForth detects an ad on a source page, it preserves that ad inline with the article in a sandboxed WebView so the source keeps its impression and click counts. That WebView talks directly to the ad network - not through us - and only loads when you open that article.

What we collect

Website analytics. The PageForth marketing site (pageforth.com) may use a cookie-free, privacy-friendly analytics service like Clicky to count page views. No personal information is collected. The app itself contains no analytics or tracking of any kind.

Purchase information. When you subscribe to PageForth, the Mac App Store processes your payment. Apple does not share your name, payment details, or contact info with us. See Apple's privacy policy for details.

Crash reports. If PageForth crashes and you've opted in to share crash reports with developers in your macOS settings, Apple may send us an anonymized crash log. These contain no personal data.

Third-party services

PageForth relies on these third parties:

Children's privacy
